The Israeli Wiskott Aldrich Syndrome Association participated in the 2nd International WAS Families and Researchers Conference held in June 2013  in Baltimore, MD. U.S.A

The conference was attended by families from around the world as well as numerous WAS medical specialists: Prof. Hans Ohcs, Prof. Adrian Trasher, Dr. Fabio Candotti, Prof. Marina Cavazzana, Dr. Alessandro Aiuti, Dr. Michael Albert, Dr. Sung-Yun Pai, Dr. Christian Braun, Dr. Mira Barda Saad and others.

The conference clinical sessions focused on WAS related research efforts including the pharmacological treatment of Thrombocytopenia with the medicines Eltrombopag and N-Plate in WAS patients and initial results of a 12 participants, classic WAS patients gene therapy research undertaken in Milan, Paris, London and Boston. The conference also featured for the first time a research by Mira Barda-Saad, PhD of Bar Ilan University, Israel, "Prospects for New Therapies" which is supported by the Israeli WAS Association and proposes innovative approaches in WAS therapy. The Israeli Association was also represented by Dr. Nurit Assia Batzir who is currently engaged with the WAS registry project of the European Society for Immunodeficiencies (ESID) registry.
